Manir
Zesmin Ara (45) is a
familiar face in Kurigram town. She was being married when she was a student of
class seven. She has 5child (4 girl & 1 boy) and at her young age she lost
her husband. In that time Zesmin Ara taking all responsibilities to carry on
her family. She was passing very difficult time, which was bigger description.
Meanwhile, Julekha was introduced with Alea, A NGO field worker and formed
Collage Pare Mohila Group in 1995. She was made secretary of this group. She
has taken lone 5/6 times from A NGO. Utilizing this money she bared the
expenditure of her family. After receiving the computer training her son has
gone to Jardan. She received various
training on awareness building and income generation from A NGO. In 1999 she elected
as vice chairperson of the federation of Kurigram sador Municipality and
elected federation chairperson in 2002,till now she is on the post by two terms
election. She is also the chairperson of federation mediation committee, Women
forum, and Disaster management committee. Moreover she is the vice chair of the
district federation liaison committee and CBO/Federation network committee. As
a chairperson of the federation mediation committee she conducted successfully
75 mediations on gender-based violence in favor of female victims. She always
trying to reduce gender based violence like- early marriage, polygamy and
illegal marriage protection, increase birth registration and marriage
registration and also working as a presser group for proper utilization of
govt. resources, like-legal aid fund, hospital facility, cet. She is committed
to work for the society especially for the women and disadvantage people.
Deloara
Deloara (46)
is a Federation Chairman for 5 times of Mohammad Union federation Under
Thakurgoan Sadar Upazila, She has 3 children and all are completing higher
education. First time she enlisted as a
member of Kazipara1 no female group under in 1983. After 2 years she was
nominated chairman of that group. In 1993 she was elected secretary of
federation for 2 years. First time she was elected federation chairman in 1995.
As a chairperson of the federation mediation committee she conducted successful
near about 100 mediations in favor of women victims, protected 6-7 early
marriages and 2 illegal divorces from 2003 to till now. She received 4 times
Govt. fund on roadside tree plantation for 5 kilometers, fish culture, and
protection violence against women. Deloara exceptionally capable (disable) but
morally and virtually is very strong to ensure the gender equality and to work
for the disadvantage group especially for women.
LNly Kegum
Lily Begum, 32 years old of Doskapara under Boda upazila
of Panchagarh. In 1993 she formed Doskapara Female Group and took over the post
of chairperson of the group. Meanwhile her group included to federation and,
elected vice president of the federation. Then she elected the member of Boda
Union parishad in 1997 and 2002 by the strong support/ cooperation of her own
federation. In 1997, she also elected vice president for second time in the
federation. She received various training on women leadership development,
advocacy, leadership management, gender awareness, village court, raring of cow
& goat etc from A NGO. Still now she is a member of federation mediation
committee, women forum, disaster management committee, advisory committee of
primary school, Upazila female disaster management committee, nutrition
activities of CARE-BD and chairperson of VDP club. She mediated successfully
near about 20 mediations on behalf of women victim. In 1999, she caught the
leader of the gang of imitate gold trafficker and received thanks from all
corners.
Fazol Rakha
Kazol Rakha, a newly elected vice chairman of Phanchagar
Sader Upazila Parishad, she was a member of Haribhasha union Federation of Phanchagar Sader Upazila. In 2006, she joined
Haribhasha union Federation as a assistance of community learning center under
education for all project and nominated the chairperson of women forum of
Haribhasha federation. She is also a member of Haribhasha girls school
management committee, and chairperson of the Federation Nari Forum. From 2003
to till now, through federation mediation committee she conducted successfully
near about 80 mediations for vulnerable woman protected 03-hilla marriages and
07 early marriages. Now she is more confident as a vice chair to contribute
/take initiatives to improve the society especially for women.
Mahila Sarker
Rahila Sarker a newly elected vice chirperson of Dimla
Upzila Parishad under Nilphamari District with the cooperation of Federation
liaison committee. She joined in A NGO Majhapara Mohila group in 2005. Now she
is a member of general committee of Goyabari union federation and adviser of
women forum. She is also a member of Futanirhat school managing committee. As a
mediation committee member she successfully mediated 30 mediations on behalf of
women victims.
